Hi everyone,

My name is Ingeborg, and I’m excited to start my four-year PhD in parasitology and immunology here at BIO. Originally from Oslo, I’ve been living in Bergen for the past 10 years. I completed my integrated master’s in Aquamedicine at BIO this June. During my time at the university, I gained hands-on experience through various part-time jobs in the aquaculture industry. For my master’s thesis, I collaborated with Cermaq to demonstrate the improved properties of newly developed blood marine agars for isolating and differentiating bacteria in the Tenacibaculum genus.

In my PhD project, I will be working on the ongoing projects SaliVax and SaliFilaVax, aiming to develop a vaccine for Atlantic salmon against salmon louse. Additionally, these projects will contribute to increasing our knowledge of the interaction between the Atlantic salmon and the salmon louse. The project will involve laboratory work and vaccine trials to test different vaccine compositions and their ability to induce an immune response in the fish’s mucus.

I am looking forward to continuing my stay at the University of Bergen!
