We’re thrilled to welcome you to Arctic Bio Hack, a unique transnational hackathon taking place from Friday, May 30 at 13:00 to Sunday, June 1 at 13:00 in Bergen. Together, we’ll explore the untapped potential of Atlantic cod by-products and co-create regenerative, high-value solutions that support both local ecosystems and economic growth.
This edition of Arctic Bio Hack is held in close collaboration with the cod farming company Havland, based in Florø. Havland will provide freshly slaughtered cod for us to dissect on-site, offering participants a unique hands-on experience with the fish’s various components—from bones and skin to viscera and mucus. These raw materials will serve as the foundation for your innovative concepts, which can potentially be commercialized through existing businesses or new ventures.
Over the weekend, participants will be organized into 6–7 interdisciplinary teams, each consisting of 4–5 people with different areas of expertise—from marine biology and biomedicine to entrepreneurship, design, and logistics. Through structured sessions and close collaboration with industry actors, we aim to develop concrete, scalable ideas that can contribute to sustainable resource use across the Nordic region.
Arctic Bio Hack is more than a workshop—it’s a launchpad for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and bioregional innovation spanning Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Norway.
Let’s challenge convention, build across borders, and regenerate the North Atlantic together.
