The Ministry of Climate and Environment invites you to a seminar on genetic information from nature, also called digital sequence information (DSI), on November 25 at 09:30.
Digital sequence information is genetic information from plants and animals, and can have great economic value, for example in the development of medicines and vaccines. At the Nature Summit in 2024, it was decided that there should be a global payment system for the use of this information. The money will go to a fund that can be used to protect nature in countries that cannot finance nature measures themselves.
Authorities in various countries are now working to clarify who will be included in this payment scheme, and how it will work in practice.
On behalf of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, Menon Economics has investigated which business actors may be affected, and how much they are willing to pay. The report will be presented at the seminar.
We invite business actors, civil society organizations, academia, public administration and other relevant actors affected by DSI to participate in the seminar. There will be an opportunity to provide input – both orally during the seminar and in writing afterwards.
