Applications are now open for the ESA Ocean Synergy Training Course 2025 (#OTC25) and the One Ocean Expedition’s Advanced Training Course on Ocean Synergy Remote Sensing 2025.
The deadline for applications is 1 October 2024
The #OTC25 Training Course consists of two mandatory parts:
- Shore-based online component (November 2024 – March 2025) using the Ocean Virtual Laboratory. This will comprise 14 modules, each lasting 2 hours, scheduled at a rate of one module per week. Each module will focus on a different Earth Observation satellite measurement: how they work, how different instruments measure various properties, and how the derived data can be applied in ocean science. The shore-based course will centre on a virtual voyage corresponding to the ship-based component of the training.
- Ship-based component aboard the tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhlduring the One Ocean Expedition, sailing from Tromsø, Norway, to Nice, France, via Reykjavik, Iceland (22 April 2025 – 4 June 2025), covering 6,200 nautical miles in approximately 35 days.
There are over 40 fully-funded places available. Most are reserved for students from ESA Member States and associated/cooperating states, with a few places allocated for other nations, including the USA and developing countries.
