Yesterday was islet cleanup day and about 40 enthusiastic BIO people were in full action, to the best of the nesting conditions of the seabirds in the archipelago. And afterwards there was a gathering at Marineholmen. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to participate myself, but the reports say that it was very successful. Many thanks to Arild B., Frank, Heikki, Kenneth, Nina and Vetle for excellent planning and execution.
Next Friday there is a PhD/post doc party at BIO. It will be great and I can’t wait to meet everyone.
Many congratulations to Gaute Velle who is co-author of an extensive work on changes in biodiversity in rivers in Europe, published in Nature. See https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-023-06400-1. This is typically the kind of study that will be frequently cited. It is great that UiB and NORCE are so visible in this field.
Then I wish you all a very good weekend.
BIO on fire! More about the islet cleanup in next week’s issue.
