It has been a busy period leading up to Easter. This past week, the One Ocean Conference was held, and I hope many of you had the opportunity to attend the excellent and highly relevant program. Preliminary indications regarding applications for studies at BIO this coming autumn suggest very positive trends, showing that we are an attractive and relevant department for many prospective students.
Planning for autumn’s teaching is already well underway, and the course budgets for all autumn courses are now nearly finalized. It’s a complex puzzle to make everything fit together, but with all our skilled colleagues on the job, I’m confident the result will be brilliant as always. There is also much anticipation surrounding the student admissions to the master’s program in biology, which have been restructured ahead of this year (as previously mentioned). So far, it looks like this will also turn out very well.
Thank you to everyone who attended the all-staff meeting on Wednesday. As we discussed, BIO is still in the midst of change, with several ongoing processes related to both space and organizational structure. My goal is for us to finalize these processes during the spring, so that we can use autumn to implement measures that will, in the long term, benefit BIO as both an academic department and a workplace.
For Easter, I would like to take this opportunity to send my warmest greetings to each and every one of you. Whether you’re spending the holidays actively, or using the time for rest and reflection, I hope this Easter brings you joy, inspiration, and renewed energy. We may have to accept a lack of snow in the mountains this year, but a moment in the sun is certainly something to enjoy—even without a full day of skiing beforehand!
Happy Easter to you all and thank you for all your efforts and positive commitment!
