Dear colleagues, here is a status of the area reduction process this week. We started the week with an extended management group meeting on Monday 19.05, where the management group, the safety representatives and the working group reviewed the proposed solution in more detail.
Internal working meetings with the subject groups [faggruppene] have also started this week. On Wednesday 21 May, the working group met with the Ecology group, and on Friday 23 May, there were three working meetings with Fish Health, Microbiology and MOL. The working meetings will continue next week. We will also meet with the University Museum. When we have finished the discussions in all the subject groups and the administration, we will meet with EIA (the Estate and Facilities Management division) and the architects, to further develop possible solutions.
As you know, we currently have several important organizational processes underway, including the area process and the review of BIO’s internal organization. To make it easy to follow what is happening, we will publish a status update in each Bionytt in the future. We have also created a category called “BIO organizational development” which you will find in the right menu where you will find all posts with information about the ongoing organizational work.
When it comes to daily life at the department, this is a very busy time for most people, exams are being held, grades are being given and many are involved in small and large project applications aimed at both research and teaching. The daily tasks related to research and teaching are in fact our real work, and it is very gratifying to see that even though the ongoing processes involve additional work and a good deal of uncertainty for many, you all show an impressive willingness to contribute that makes the department run at full speed on all fronts.
We wish everyone a splendid and busy week.
Hilsen
