[Our translation/Google translate]

Universal design is a central principle in the work to develop inclusive and accessible learning environments at the University of Bergen. To support the academic communities’ work to strengthen this area, UiB Universal, which is part of the Department of Studies, is announcing funds that faculties, departments and lecturers can apply for for development projects related to universal design in teaching and learning environments.

The purpose of the call is to:

  • Promote measures that contribute to better accessibility and inclusion for all students.
  • Stimulate the development of teaching practices, assessment methods and learning activities that take into account student diversity.
  • Support measures related to the physical, digital, pedagogical and/or psychosocial learning environment.

Applications may for example include:

  • Pilot projects in the universal design of subjects or assessment methods.
  • Competence development measures for the professional community.
  • Development of digital resources or learning tools that take into account UU principles.

We ask you to forward this announcement to relevant academic communities and lecturers at your faculty.

Application deadline: 1 October 2025
Allocation framework per project: Variable according to need, mainly up to NOK 100,000
Applications should be sent via UiB-Hjelp to: Teaching and Learning Support

The application should contain a brief description of what you want to have implemented, a budget for the use of the funds and who is primarily responsible for the implementation. The project should be implemented within the 2025/2026 academic year and afterwards a newsletter must be submitted that can be published on one of UiB’s digital platforms. We would like to point out that we do not prioritize travel expenses in principle.

We look forward to receiving good suggestions from academic communities and hope that you will help to promote this important work.
