The work on area reduction at BIO has started again after the summer, and working meetings have been held with the area group at BIO. The Architect and the Estate and Facilities Management division at UiB (EIA) have been on site and have started work on outlining solutions. We have started by looking at the solutions in Bioblokken, mainly on the fifth floor, where microbiology and administration are planned to move in. The last meeting with the architects was September 12.

Separate working groups have also been created to look at solutions for the Ecology and evolution faggruppe and the University Museum (UM), which is currently located in the A block. It is planned that they will move into the B block, and there take care of both joint laboratories and the DNA lab on a smaller area. Two working groups have been created that, together with the area group, will work on similar lab functions in the B block, and the working groups include technicians from both UM and BIO. The DNA steering group and the area group have planned a kick-off meeting on September 15, while the kick-off meeting for the joint laboratory environment will be September 12.

Detailed planning and working on the solutions takes time. The process for the work is that we work on specific solutions together with the professional communities, and the solutions are then drawn by the architect. The architect’s documentation will provide a price for the solutions, and this will be the basis for the decision-making for the EIA. Although we do not foresee that there will be any moving activity in 2025, we encourage clearing and throwing away during the autumn. Ståle and Julie will have a meeting with the working group for area reduction to review the first feedback from the architects in week 39. We have regular information meetings with our largest tenant, NORCE. A new information meeting with NORCE will be in mid-October.
