Thank you for visiting!

Rector Margareth Hagen and her new rectorate, together with University Director Tore Tungodden, visited BIO on Wednesday this week.

Our own Dean Gunn Mangerud and Vice Dean for Education Monica Jordheim were also in the group.

After a short introduction in the Tunet meeting room (block A), and briefing from the head of the department Ståle Ellingsen, we received a presentation from Tom Langbehn about his polar and marine research activities. The visitors were then taken on a tour of the Institute. The first stop was at Terrestrial Ecology, where Alistair Seddon gave a briefing and we were allowed into the microscopy lab where both students and researchers were busy analyzing newly collected research samples from this year’s field season. Here there was time for microscopy for those in the group who wanted to. We then headed down to the large teaching lab on the first floor, where a lab course in fish diseases was taking place. Aina Øvergård told the guests about the lab course, while Anne Bjune briefed on the importance of using field/expedition/lab in teaching, so that the students acquire both practical and theoretical skills.  Finally, Anita Rønneseth showed us around the live animal laboratories on the 1st floor at HiB, and Lars Hamre concluded with an introduction to BIO’s research on the sea lice front.

The tour was very well received by the guests, and it is impressive what level and breadth we can show at BIO. Everyone involved did a brilliant job – thank you for your effort!!
