Closing of UiB’s 200th anniversary: ”The academic gingerbread town”

[Our translation/Google translate]

Dear everyone,

From KA (Communication Division) we are sending out information about The Academic Gingerbread City as agreed . As a university, some of our most important values are free research, academic freedom and democracy. This year we are building a gingerbread city to show that these values always have a safe home with us.

The Gingerbread Town marks the end of UiB’s 200th anniversary and will be on display at the University Museum (UM) in December. All students and staff are invited to bake to represent their academic community and to show which academic values are most important to them. We hope that the contributions will highlight the rich diversity of opinions that characterize UiB.

Important dates

1.12. at 11:30: Internal opening of the Academic Gingerbread City at UM. There will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting, a speech from the rector and Christmas spirit.

6.12.: All of Bergen is invited to Christmas Saturday at UM. You can experience the gingerbread town, enjoy pop-up lectures with Christmas themes, Christmas activities, etc.

We invite the entire UiB to a baking workshop

From 3.11. until it runs out, you can pick up gingerbread dough, ready-made building kits, etc. at KA on the 2nd floor of NG5 (between 10:00-13:00). We encourage cooperation!

On November 17th at 6:00 PM-9:00 PM, all students and employees are welcome to a gingerbread workshop at Godt Brød Christie at UM. There you can decorate finished gingerbread houses.

Completed contributions must be delivered to UM from November 18th to 21st between 10:00-11:30.
