I’m back as Head of Education at BIO after a year on sabbatical! It was a great year, so thank you, Øyvind, for holding the wheel the past year! My calendar filled up very fast after the return showing that there are many great ongoing activities.
The autumn courses are well underway, and all teachers know that things are happening based on all the messages coming from me. First and foremost, I want to remind those responsible for spring 2026 courses to submit their course budgets (emnebudsjett). Some have already done so, that is great! If you don’t need to submit a budget, you can check whether you’ve signed up for the teachers retreat, which this year will take place on November 25th at Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Bryggen (https://skjemaker.app.uib.no/view.php?id=19742401). As in previous years, there will be discussions and presentations. The organizing committee is working on the program and welcomes all suggestions. If you have something you’d like to share with us, please let us know!
Last Thursday, we had the first bioTEACH of the autumn – this is also a great opportunity to share from your own teaching experiences. I know many of you are working on exciting things!
While you’re checking things, make sure you’re a member of two Teams groups: one called “Undervisning på BIO” and one called “Undervisning på NT”. If not, let me know! And if you’re not receiving emails from the BIO undervisning mailing list, please report that too! There’s a lot to check here, but it’s important and great that everyone receives the information being sent out!
Finally, I want to mention that we’re working on various topics related to AI in teaching – the faculty has published guidelines here: Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Bergen | Faculty of Science and Technology | UiB
Hope you all have a great week!
Anne
