Successful career-learning workshop for biology and molecular biology students

Do you know how to put your own competences into words? And is “career” more than just the dream job?

On April 13, future biologists and molecular biologists worked on these questions during a career-learning workshop organized by the BIO Study Section and Sammen Career.
This is the second time this workshop has been held for BIO students. Around 40 bachelor and master students showed up in Active room 2 to challenge their own ideas about who they are and what they can offer a future employer.

Career advisors Sigrid Isdal and Guri Velure Sandsdalen hosted the interactive workshop, and students worked in groups with various exercises, like “The Hand” where each finger symbolizes themes that will be covered in a job interview, like competencies, personality, inspiration, dreams for the future and ambition. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the room, laughter and lots of chatter, and students shared their thoughts with their peers, and on the screen via Mentimeter.

Sammen Careers offers many FREE services for all UiB students, like personal career guidance, interview practice, feedback on CV and application, and several helpful courses for the transition from studies to work life. Read more at www.sammen.no/en/bergen/career
