The government announced in a press release on 7 September this year1 that the research effort on artificial intelligence will be increased by at least one billion kroner over the next five years. The research initiative will have three main tracks, summarized as 1) Social consequences, 2) Technology development, 3) Innovation.
UiB at the Division of Research and Innovation has sent out the attached letter (see link at the top of the case) to its faculties and institutes, which explains the initiative and UiB’s plans for mobilizing the academic community against this initiative.
