Editorial – 28.02.2025

A short report from the study section this week, I have a little winter holiday in Trondheim for a few days. In recent weeks, we have had program board meetings in all four program boards we have at the institute, as well as a meeting of the Education Council, which consists of the head of education, Øyvind Halskau and all the program board leaders, Frank Nilsen for fish health, Sigurd Stefansson for the siv.ing in aquaculture, Fabian Rentzsch for molecular biology and Øystein Varpe for biology. In the education council, we go through all the cases that have been reviewed in the program boards and approve them there before the cases are sent on to the faculty. WE still have a job to do with the flow of information, but matters that are raised and the minutes will eventually appear on the website we have for advice and selection: https://www.uib.no/bio/54559/r%C3%A5d-og-utvalg

As Ståle mentioned in last week’s editorial, we had the year’s first bioTEACH last week and it was fun! With bioTHURSDAY, we have several arenas to get to know our own department better, and I think it’s exciting to hear more about what’s happening at the department. Continue to join biotTHURSDAY and contribute yourself!

Several of our courses have a poster presentation as part of the assessment and this spring the poster session take place at Realfagbygget for the first time, the date is set for 15 May. I hope many will take the short trip to Realfabygget to see the posters, you can find the link to the event here: https://www.uib.no/nt/172537/student-poster-symposium
