Hei, alle sammen!
On behalf of the Department, I would like to congratulate Margareth Hagen along with Sigrunn Eliassen and the reast of her team, for her re-election as UiB Rector for another 4 years. We look forward to continue our good collaboration with the University leadership, and we look forward to see what Sigrunn can add to the team in light of her deep engagement and unique experience in the field of education and teaching development. We would also like to congratulate Lise Øvreås and her team on a well conducted campaign. The run for the rectorate has been real, open and engaging, and we believe this helps us all to see ourselves in a wider perspective and also strenghtens the university democracy. A heartfelt thanks to Lise and her team.
One Ocean Week kicked off Saturday and continues through the week with a range of exciting events. Everyone at BIO should be able to find something of interest in the rich program. We encourage everyone – students as well as staff, to participate. One Ocean Week is primarily a meeting place and a conversation in which we should all take part.
UiB is in the process of moving the content of all webpages to a new version of the publication system, often called w4. The process is stepwise, and next up are the research group and project webpages. The new system will be so different from the current (w3) that automatic transfer of content from old to new pages will not be possible. Therefore, all research group and project webpages must be set up from scratch. We will be rather pressed on time, the work will start just after Easter and prioritized webpages are to be published some time in June. First of all we need to decide which pages to transfer, which should have first priority, and whether we need to set up any new pages. We will of course work closely with the research groups during the whole process and will be in touch shortly.
Finally, I would like to encourage everyone to join the general info meeting next Thursday, 9. April, 14pm at Stort auditorium. The main topics will be briefings on the financial result for 2024, the budget for 2025, the results from the work environment survey (ARK) as well as an update on phase 2 of the area reduction project.
I wish everyone a splendid week.
