SciTech-Fac: Announcement of support for events and guest researchers within Global Societal Challenges 2025

[Our translation/Google translate]

Global societal challenges (GSU) is one of three priority areas where UiB wants to utilize and develop the broad university’s unique opportunities for academic mobilization, specialization and collaboration across disciplinary boundaries. For more information about GSU, please refer to the GSU website.

Application deadline 1 September 2025

GSU stimulates academic collaboration across faculties and regularly announces seed funding for this purpose. In 2025, an additional call will be made with the aim of stimulating further activities to strengthen UiB’s work on global societal challenges. We invite applications for activities that contribute to strengthening activity across faculties, institutions outside UiB, and that contribute to putting UiB on the map as a university with a strong commitment to global issues.

Activities that can be supported through this additional call must fall within one of these categories:
– Support for events that highlight UiB’s commitment to global cooperation and efforts on global issues
– Support for guest researcher stays at UiB that include the implementation of open events that focus on global societal challenges

The framework for the call is NOK 400,000, and a maximum of NOK 100,000 will be granted per project. The activities must be implemented in 2025 or by the end of 2026. The allocation must be transferred to the recipient’s department/faculty during 2025. A report is expected after the implementation of the activity. A digital application form must be used (click to go to form)

Applications are assessed according to the following dimensions:

– Extent of global collaboration on the activity

– Relevance for understanding global and complex societal challenges

– Efficient use of allocated funds
