Applications to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (FOTS) for permission to conduct experiments with animals must be submitted no later than 3 months before the start of the experiment.
There is a user fee for access and activity in the laboratory animal facility [“forsøksdyravdelingen”] on the 1st floor T55, the live animal facility [“levendeavdelingen”] on the 1st floor T53A and areas within the ILAB agreement. 50% of the estimated user fee is paid before the experiment starts, the remaining amount is calculated and paid after the experiment has been completed. The user fee will go towards rental costs, operation, maintenance, upgrading and purchasing of consumables in the departments. All applicants must state the source of funding. It must also be noted if the user fee is to be invoiced to external projects.
Applications must be submitted to the person in charge (see application form) within 20. August.

Everyone working with laboratory animals must have completed an approved course in laboratory animal science, this includes master’s students. Upcoming courses for researchers, research technicians and master’s students can be found on this website.
