In general, I feel very fortunate as a university employee! I can delve into and geek about things I’m more than average passionate about.
The BIO reception Christmas 2023
The BIO reception, the last day open before Christmas is Friday 22 December.The BIO reception is closed between 23rd December – 1st January 2024.
Open as usual from 2nd January.
Each research group must arrange so that freeze /refrigerated packages that might arrive is taken care of.

On December 5th, CeSAM and the UNESCO chair group organized a workshop for students and early career researchers – tying in with IPBES (Naturpanelet) holding a meeting in Bergen this week.
ERC 2024 & UIB’s new ERC Development Program – Request for feeback by 13 Dec

The tentative deadlines for upcoming ERC grants are:
- ERC Starting Grant call 2025 – Oct 2024
- ERC Consolidator Grant call 2025 – Dec 2024
- ERC Advanced Grant call 2025 – 29 Aug 2024
To support/encourage a greater number of applications to the ERC program, UIB will hold a Pilot ERC Development Programme in 2024.

Klima- og miljødepartementet har sendt NOU 2023:18 på høring med høringsfrist 22. februar 2024. Fakultetene orienteres med dette om høringen og bes vurdere å gjøre
relevante fagmiljøer oppmerksom på muligheten til å gi høringsinnspill via departementets nettsider.
Pre-announcement Nordforsk Call on Sustainable Development of the Arctic
NordForsk will open a call for proposals for research projects on Sustainable Development of the Arctic. The call has no thematic priorities, but three keywords can inspire the applicants when developing their research ideas into proposals: Security, Natural Resources and/or Societal Changes. The plan is to open the call mid-February 2024 with a submission deadline for the first stage proposals in mid-May 2024. Available budget is approximately 190 million NOK.
2024 Call for Proposals from the Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study at UC Berkeley. Application deadline April 1, 2024
The Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study supports projects carried out by researchers at UC Berkeley in collaboration with researchers from eight Norwegian universities. The Center offers grants between $10K and $25K. Funds are made available for two academic years.
