We at Helix, the Molecular Biology Student Council, arrange a career day every semester. For the spring semester, the career day was held together with Nukleus on 9 March at the Eitri Medical Incubator in Haukeland, there was a good turnout of students and there were about 90 of us. We are looking forward to the autumn when we can present new relevant companies to our students! We invited eight companies who came and talked about their company and the role of molecular biology internally. There was mingling after the presentations where the students could ask questions and get to know the various companies better. The companies that came to the career day were: ILAB, Medisinsk Genetikk from Haukeland, MSD Animal Health, FÜRST, Ha Biotech, Doctors Without Borders, FHI and NIBIO. They gave an exciting and varied picture of what you can work with when you have a molecular biology background. Career day is a good way to motivate students by showing them what opportunities they have after their studies, it also helps the student to find out which direction they want to go.
