Hi all,
UiB has leased berths to Boston and the boat “Ren havn”, a company that has been hired by Bergen municipality to work on the remedial work with Store Lungegårdsvannet.
The original rental period and planned work is in the period from October to spring 2024. Since they started the work this week, I have received many complaints from colleagues at BIO about both noise and exhaust. Several HSE deviations have also been logged.
I have contacted the EIA about the problems we are experiencing, and they have sent a complaint to Boston about both exhaust and noise. EIA has also carried out noise measurements in Thormøhlensgate 55, and it shows values that are above permissible limits for noise. On Friday after lunch, UIB’s occupational health service will also come to the area to carry out further noise measurements, in addition to which the EIA will take more measurements.
I feel that EIA takes the matter very seriously, and keeps us updated. Based on the complaint, Boston has changed the direction of the exhaust pipes to direct the exhaust away from the buildings, which according to feedback has improved the situation somewhat. I am waiting for feedback about the way forward after Friday’s noise measurements, so that we can find a solution to the noise.
I know that the noise is challenging, and encourage everyone to try to shield themselves from noise, where possible. Take breaks and use meeting rooms elsewhere in the buildings to get away from noise.
Regards, Julie
