Open research becomes part of the assessment criteria in calls for proposals

To ensure the sharing, reuse and reproducibility of research results, from 2023 onwards, open research will be part of the assessment criteria for Impact, communication and exploitation, in calls for Researcher Projects and Collaborative and Knowledge-building Projects. As part of the Impact criterion, experts must assess the extent to which open science is an integral part of the project, and whether planned results will be made openly accessible.

The rates for researcher time will increase in 2023

The support scheme for the publication of open scientific publications (STIM-OA) was discontinued this year, with the last call for the financial year of 2021. STIM-OA was a temporary arrangement to give institutions time to create models for their own financing of open publishing. From 2023 onwards, NFR will increases the lump-sum rates for researcher time to compensate for some of the increased costs institutions have had in connection with open publishing.
