Dear all,

It is with great pleasure that I can inform you that Alistair Seddon will take over as the new subject group leader at Ecology and Evolution from 1 August. Alistair takes over from John-Arvid, who heads over the mountain. Many thanks to Alistair who stands up and takes on such an important position and great responsibility. I am absolutely sure that this will be good for the management team at BIO and of course also for the subject group.

Now it’s heading towards the summer holidays, but before that there are exams in a number of subjects and master’s theses. Good luck to all the students and many thanks for the efforts of all teachers, supervisors, technicians and you in the study administration who make it all work.

Student admissions are in full swing these days, and after the summer new students will arrive. Think how exciting it will be, both for them and for us. We will welcome both the new and those who are already here. I look forward.

We have elected representatives to the department council for Group B (temporary academic staff) and Group D (students). Katherine Louise Powell Downham was elected for Group B and Rakel Standal Rege and Alexander Bouz Utskot for Group D. Many thanks to those who stood for election and congratulations to those who were elected.

Planning for the roof garden is well under way, and we are betting on a grand opening before the summer holidays. Think how beautiful it will be with flowers and fruit, berries and vegetables from your own roof garden. This will be awesome. Many thanks to Nina in particular, who is at the forefront of this.

I wish you all a very good weekend.

Hilsen Ørjan
