The department was very well represented during Arendalsuka, which took place last week. Katja Enberg, Vigdis Vandvik, Lise Øvreås and Øyvind Fiksen (probably primarily present in his capacity as marine dean) all contributed during a number of events related to themes such as oceans and aquaculture, nature conservation and sustainable nature management (see list below). Lise Øvreås was as we understand it, the only representative from UiB in the main programme, as part of the panel during a session on marine minerals, see link below.
We think that our contributions during Arendalsuka are good examples that many of the department’s researchers, through their willingness and ability to convey knowledge in relevant societal arenas, have considerable impact in the public debate both on their own behalf, and on behalf of the entire academic community.
