Dear all,
The applicant numbers for BIO’s study programme are clear. All in all, the numbers are pretty OK; some are very satisfactory and others lower than we are comfortable with. The professional study in fish health has 78 applicants for 25 places, an increase from 73 applicants last year. Civ.ing. in Aquaculture has a decrease from last year, from 55 to 44 applicants, to 20 places. Bachelor in Molecular Biology has 60 applicants for 40 places. Last year we had 68 applicants. Bachelor in Biology has 123 applicants; the same as last year. The study program has 99 places. The Master’s in Molecular Biology has 50 applicants, for 20 places. Last year there were 57 applicants. Master in Biology has 269 applicants, against 177, to 53. Of course, we should have had even more applicants, especially for the two bachelor’s programmes. With the restructuring of the funding system in our sector, it will be even more important in the future to fill the study places we have, as well as to have good and motivated students who complete their studies with us.
Here are even more figures, on our publications. In 2023, we achieved 236 publication points, against 210 in 2022, a nice increase. We had a total of 272 peer-reviewed articles, compared to 232 in 2022. In 2023, 33% of our articles were in level-2 journals, compared to 28% in 2022. So the number of publications has increased, and to that extent level says something about quality, the quality has indeed gone up. This is great, and also corresponds well with the evaluation we received from EVALBIOVIT.
I would also like to remind everyone about the deadline for submitting your input to the ongoing survey on internal information and communication Monday May 6th.
Also, please remember the staff meeting (allmøte) May 7th, where you will get the opportunity to meet our future head of department.
Wishing you a nice weekend in good weather.
