Dear all,
A set of new courses will be offered by the Ecology and Evolution group during the coming years. One of them will be a new Spatial Analysis course, in collaboration with the Geophysical institute and Dept of Geography of UiB. We aim to offer a course that covers the basics and advanced level expertise of Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing, but tailored to topics relevant to students and staff of BIO, and based on their research. Besides a course that can complement and enhance existing courses and research, we would like to expand the geospatial expertise at BIO using cutting edge technology, approaches and geodatabases from Norway and beyond.
We are now at a stage where we would like to have input from anyone interested in contributing (from PhDs to professors), and/or would like to see their fields of interest represented in this course.
To facilitate this, we invite anyone interested to join us next week during a workshop at the Scandic Hotel Bergen City:
- 24 June 2025, 9:00–12:00
- 25 June 2025, 9:00–12:00
We plan to have two different groups, one for each morning, so you can join either day. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be available during the sessions, and a packed lunch will be provided if you wish. If you are particularly interested and would like to be more involved in the course development process, you are welcome to participate in the discussions for both days. If you can only join for a shorter period, we would be happy to see you there too. Please let us know by this Friday if you would like to attend.
We apologize for the short notice, as we only found out very recently about funding to hold this event this month 😊. We understand that such short notice is not ideal, so if you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute or hear more, please feel free to contact us by email or drop by our offices: Block A, 2nd floor, rooms 2C16 and 2B18.
Best wishes,
Suzette Flantua (Senior Researcher) & Augusto Lima (Research Assistant).
