The Mountains in Motion Lab at the Department of Biological Sciences is seeking two master’s-level students (20% part-time, 6 months) to join the project ECO-SPACE: Earth Observation and Geospatial Tools for Ecosystem and Environmental Management.
The research technicians will work with ecological and environmental spatial data using Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) and contribute to the development of educational materials that follow universal design principles. The positions offer a valuable opportunity to combine technical skills in GIS-RS with ecological applications while gaining experience in developing accessible teaching resources.
Applicants should have experience with GIS (ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS) and an interest in ecological and environmental applications, and universal design education.
If you think this is interesting and want to join you can read the full announcement and apply HERE. Application deadline is due on 3 October 2025 at 17:00.
If you want to know more about the ECO-SPACE project and/or the Mountains in Motion Lab, contact Dr. Suzette Flantua or Augusto Lima, or you can check out at the Mountains in Motion webpage.
Please note: this project is externally funded by HK-DIR and is conducted as an independent educational initiative within the Department of Biological Sciences. As such, it is independent of the department’s current course structure, though its relevance to future teaching efforts is being considered. For questions regarding long-term course planning within the Terrestrial Ecology Research Group, please contact the research group coordinator.
