Hi! My name is Ida Lie-Nielsen, and I have recently started as a PhD candidate in global change ecology in the Between the fjords research group, led by Vigdis Vandvik. My position is linked to The Centre for Mountains in Transition (CMT), and I will investigate patterns, drivers and consequences of vegetation changes in mountainous areas.
The research will use existing and new field experiments and observational data on mountain biodiversity and ecosystems. I am particularly interested in integrating remote sensing with field-based studies to improve the mapping and understanding of vegetation change in a changing climate.
I finished my master in Ecology here at the University of Bergen this spring. In my thesis I used remote sensing to investigate patterns of resilience in Norwegian coastal heathland systems. I worked as an environmental consultant for a few months before I started to miss the university and Bergen so now I am back!
