We are proud to announce the launch of Geobridge, a new interdisciplinary hub for collaboration in GIS and Remote Sensing. Geobridge brings together a community of 55+ members, distributed across multiple faculties, institutes and departments at the University of Bergen (UiB) and the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
You can learn more about the GeoBridge platform on our website HERE.
We are also pleased to announce the Monthly Seminar Series (MSS), an interdisciplinary seminar series designed to connect early-, mid- and senior-career researchers from UiB and UvA to share and discuss GIS and remote sensing research focused on landscape analysis in a changing world. More information about the MSS is available HERE.
The MSS will run from February to June 2026, with seminars held every second week, alternating between 10:00 and 14:00. Each session will feature two guest speakers, each delivering a 20-minute presentation on their current or past research. The full seminar schedule can be viewed HERE.
The first session will take place on February 6th at 10:00. The session will begin with an introduction to the GeoBridge community, including our ongoing projects, current activities, and future plans. We will then welcome Dr. Emiel van Loon (University of Amsterdam), who will present a talk entitled “How to Interpret Map Correlations?”.
Dr. Emiel van Loon is an Associate Professor of Statistical Ecology specializing in dynamic and machine-learning models for ecological systems. His research uses GPS tracking, weather radar, and virtual navigation experiments to study animal memory, population dynamics, and large-scale bird and rodent movement.
If you are interested in attending the MSS or the Geobridge community, please contact me directly at augusto.naschimento@uib.no or register your interest via this link HERE, and I will get back to you shortly.
Thank you for considering this invitation. We hope to see many of you at the Monthly Seminar Series and in future GeoBridge activities.
For GeoBridge,
