As part of the GeoBridge platform, we are organizing a two-day hands-on workshop on StoryMapping, a powerful approach for communicating research through interactive maps and visual narratives. StoryMaps allow you to combine maps, spatial data, images, and multimedia to present complex environmental data in an accessible and engaging way.
This workshop is ideal for researchers, technicians and students interested in visualizing geospatial analyses, communicating research results, and developing interactive scientific storytelling tools.
The workshop will be led by Stacy Shinneman, a researcher from the University of Amsterdam with extensive experience in developing StoryMaps for environmental research and science communication. During the workshop, participants will learn how to design and build their own StoryMaps using ArcGIS StoryMaps, with a focus on effectively translating spatial analyses into compelling visual narratives.
Requirements
Participants should have basic experience with Esri ArcGIS. If you do not yet have this background, we will provide you a self-paced introductory module (c. 8h) to help you acquire the necessary basics. Completing this module (or having prior ArcGIS experience) is required to participate.
Practical information
- Dates: 22–23 April
- Participants: Maximum 20 participants
- Fee: Small contribution of 150 NOK
- Data: Ideally your own data! We can work with you to prepare your data for the workshop.
