This year’s NT Teachers Retreat (Seminar) brought together around 80 engaged participants for a day filled with academic input and collegial inspiration. This year’s event placed particular emphasis on AI in teaching and UiB’s focus on first-year students, inclduing a keynote and workshop by physicist Tor Ole Odden. The seminar was a collaboration between the faculty, SERC, and the Pedagogical Academy. The program also included a panel discussion on large first-year courses, a rich poster session, and lively roundtable discussions on everything from 3D models to student follow-up. As always, the seminar created space for meaningful conversations and new insights across academic communities.
On Wednesday, the leadership of Statsbygg (the Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property) visited UiB and our Faculty and got a presentation on the project UiB Realfaghøyden. After Norconsult’s review, the KS1 report delivered in December 2025 confirmed — and even strengthened — the case for moving forward with our preferred concept, as recommended by Statsbygg and UiB. We were pleased with this conclusion and now await the political decision, hopefully as part of the 2027 State Budget.
This week all web editors from around the NT- Faculty gathered. They will ensure that the new faculty- and department websites are ready by the summer. Together with the central project group, they will develop a solid implementation plan – so you will likely hear more about this as the work continues and input is needed!
