Dean’s brief week 15 2026

  • What does NASA’s Artemis II mission around the Moon have to do with our faculty? Quite a lot, actually – as it gives a unique opportunity for excellent science communication. Our colleague Kjellmar Oksavik at the Department of Physics and Technology has served as TV 2’s space physics expert in their coverage of the first crewed lunar mission in more than 50 years. Kjellmar leads the space physics group and is deeply committed to showing why research and fact‑based knowledge matter in a time when information spreads quickly and often without context.
  • As many of you already know; Thursday before Easter we got the wonderful news that the government has approved our preferred concept choice for UiB Realfaghøyden (concept K4‑3). This decision marks an important milestone, as it is quite simply the final hurdle before a political decision can be made to include the project in the state budget from 2027. Fingers crossed!
