Hi everyone!

I hope you will join us for this exciting and important instance of the TeLEd Monthly Event Series. This month’s event features Thomas Tobin, who is an internationally recognized scholar, author, and speaker on technology-mediated education—especially copyright, evaluation of teaching practices, academic integrity, accessibility, and universal design for learning. Tom has recently retired from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he helped found their Center for Teaching, Learning, and Mentoring. His latest book, UDL at Scale: Whole-Campus Universal Design for Learning (2026) has recently been published by the University of Oklahoma Press. He has also published books on the evaluation of online learning, copyright, and UDL.

You already know about the basics of Universal Design for Learning (UDL): how to provide learners with multiple means of engagement, multiple representations of information, and multiple ways to take action and express themselves. In our TeLEd Talk, we’ll examine a five-stage model for colleges and universities to using UDL’s nine guidelines and 36 considerations to reduce barriers and streamline processes across their entire institutions. You’ll hear stories about organizations who have actually done it, too, and learn how to go from grassroots efforts to whole-campus UDL. By attending this session, you will:

  • learn concrete actions for of UDL implementation,
  • identify and assess how UDL supports strategic institutional priorities, and
  • communicate the benefits of UDL at the highest levels of your organization.

Best of all, you’ll have the chance to ask questions and engage directly with our guest presenter, on whose new book, UDL at Scale, our conversation will be based. Bring your voice, ideas, and questions.

You can learn more about the event here.
