This interactive workshop is open to any Early Career Researcher (ECR) affiliated to any EuroMarine member organisation.
Early Career Researcher definition: PhD students or individuals holding a postdoctoral position within 5 years of their PhD degree award (discounting any time spent on maternity, illness or similarly extensive non-holiday leave) at the time of the Workshop.
Securing funding for your work is a crucial skill for your scientific career. Writing applications is just the tip of the iceberg – many soft skills and actions are needed before you start writing to be efficient and effective in funding procurement. This course will give you the tools to:
- Develop skills to self-fund your career pathway
- Create a personal research funding strategy
- Identify suitable funding opportunities
- Assess your likelihood of success
- Build strong professional relationships that result in future collaborations
- Critically analyse why you were unsuccessful or outcompeted
This workshop will set out key considerations for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in relation to securing funding for your research and helping you to develop and implement your own research funding strategy. The workshops will combine theory and exercises, with practical templates and tools provided to participants. |
