Hello! My name is Jonas Stuksrud, and I have recently started as a PhD candidate in collaboration with the Sea Lice Research Centre here at BIO. My work is part of the new CRISPRLus project, led by Andreas Borchel, and focuses on establishing CRISPR/Cas9 technology in salmon lice. The aim is to use this technology to deepen our understanding of salmon lice biology and investigate potential new approaches for controlling this important parasite.
I previously completed both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in molecular biology here at UIB. My master’s project was undertaken in the Fish Immunology research group, where I worked with mRNA vaccines against viral diseases in Atlantic salmon. I am looking forward to continuing my work in aquaculture research, now with a focus on salmon lice!
