Hi everyone! My name is Alex, and I just started working as a PhD candidate in the Marine Developmental Biology group. I’m part of the WILDLAB project, led by Rachael Morgan. My research will use VR predator simulations to investigate fear responses in Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua), linking behavior with physiology and sensory biology, and exploring how rising temperature and hypoxia affect vision, metabolism, and anti-predator responses. I’m particularly interested in combining ecological realism with controlled lab experiments. My research background spans climate change physiology, quantitative modelling, and predator-prey feeding ecology. Originally from Italy, research has brought me to several countries, and I’m happy to have landed in Bergen for this new adventure.
