Competition for students is increasing, making it important that all places in our degree programmes are filled. This is also vital for our finances, as student recruitment and completion generate income that supports academic positions and helps ensure high-quality education.
Today, admissions to master’s programmes are managed separately by each university. From 2028, a national coordinated admissions system is planned. This means we need to review our admission requirements and ensure that only those that are essential for successful programme completion remain.
This is particularly important for attracting applicants from other institutions in Norway and from abroad. If places remain unfilled, they may be reallocated to programmes with higher demand. Taking a strategic approach now will help ensure that we can continue to offer a broad range of master’s programmes across all our disciplines in the future.
