This spring, the University of Bergen carried out a limited update of its strategy. The vision, strategic direction, and overall structure remain unchanged, but the revision takes into account developments in the world around us — new trends emerging within our sector, both nationally and internationally. Areas that have been adjusted include a clearer emphasis on academic freedom and a strengthened focus on social responsibility, including the responsible use of technology, competence development, and effective digital work processes. With measures to stimulate more FRIPRO applications, it appears that application activity is very good, also for other types of external funding. We can congratulate Ruth Anne Sandaa at the Department of Biological Sciences on receiving the first awarded FRIPRO project this year (on virus-host coevolution), and we hope more will follow!
